Nice colour, but a lot of product needed
Good colour, but a lot of product needed. I had to use the microwave method to get the colour deep enough and the product required almost the full bottle to colour buttercream for 12 cupcakes.

Recipes for Red velvet cake advise paste for colouring. Does anyone know if this will work. Mary Berry says some colouring could turn the cake green!
Ooh I don't know about turning the cake green - I've never had that happen! I swear by Sugarflair Red Extra for my red velvet cakes though. I find Colour Mill better for getting vibrant buttercreams rather than sponges.
