Sew easy to use!
I haven't sewn in years but wanted a basic inexpensive, light weight machine for every day repairs and simple jobs. Chose this machine for my birthday last year but just got round to using it this weekend. First job - turning up a pair of jeans! I was worried that even though the description says that the machine would cope with multiple layers of material that the really thick seams and the turnups equalling 4 layers of denim would be too much for it. I took it really steady and it was a breeze! If it can manage with that it can do anything I'm going to ask of it! The number of accessories and features is amazing. Sew pleased!

Good machine but lack of info about it
I returned the Midi as I wanted a more robust machine and the 19S seems to be the one. Only problems so far is the lack of Youtube vids (or Hobbycraft for that matter) - all the vids are about the Midi. I tried out the stitches and got a chunk of material stuck in the base plate that I had to cut away - glad it was only practice fabric. Other than that, the stitch length dial that reveals the S1 stitches is so hard to move you feel like you're going to break it and the bobbin is not easy to wind evenly. It does stitch well though. I'm going to see how it goes really as I'm a bit concerned about the material getting stuck but I'm only a beginner and it is early days yet.

Birthday sewing machine
I brought this machine for my 10 year old granddaughter. I had previously given her one of the mini machines which was a disaster as it kept breaking! My granddaughter was determined so I got this machine. She has only had it for two weeks but is loving it. It is very easy to operate, the instructions are simple to follow. The feet are easy to change and there are several types of stitches you can use. Although she has not used all the stitches or accessories yet I feel sure they will work well. I would recommend this machine to any new sewer. It will give them the confidence to experiment with their sewing.

Great fun machine
I bought this a few days ago. And I have zigzag stitched with it, darned (it comes with a darning plate and works with it, but in addition, I bought a separate darning or free-motion foot (Singer), which makes it more free-flowing) and blind hemmed with it (works but not blind, probably due to my lack of skill).
For £85, I'm thoroughly happy with it.
It's a decent weight, so it doesn't jump around when sewing but light enough for easy handling.
A huge improvement from my old temperemental machine which weighed a ton.
I'm a light user.
Still trying to figure out how you engage S1 and what S1 is for! Maybe the answer is on YouTube, which I needed.

Great price, great products
About a year and a half ago I decided to take up sewing but I didn’t want to invest too much into a machine, not knowing if I would stick to the hobby or not. I settled on this machine thinking it was a well priced, basic machine, and if I ended up loving sewing I could just later replace the machine with a higher ticket one. Since then I have been sewing with the machine regularly, have had no problems, and have no intention of replacing the machine any time soon. It had all the features required for even more advanced projects, and I even ended up sewing one of my wedding outfits on it. The machine is a great machine for anyone looking for an at home sewing machine.

I wasnt happy with this sewing machine.
I seem to be really unlucky with this machine. Every time i usef it, it broke the needle & made horrible banging noise. After attending 3 sewing lessons & 5 broken needles, on the advise of my Tutor, i returned it to where i bought it from. Unfortunately i had bought it at the end of September 2023 but didn't open the box or start using it until my lesson in November 2023. The shop found it to be faulty but as it was more than 28 days since purchase, i wasn't allowed a refund, only a Credit Note as i was put off buying another product from Hobbycraft. I think it was unfair as the sewing machine was clearly faultly & not my fault.

This machine is amazing.
For a cheaper machine this is one of the best options around, it has all the features you need and is actually quite heavy duty. It managed to get through 5 layers of velvet in one go and sewed through with ease. It is also relatively light weight and can be moved easily. It has a storage box in the removable table that holds all of the extra pieces that the machine comes with and it could easily fit more. Overall this machine is a good option for a beginner or an experienced sewer.

Great Sewing Machine
I had to replace my sewing machine of 45 years as it was playing up every time I used it. It probably needs a service and overhaul. I mainly use my machine for fairly simple projects - things the grandchildren want me to make, bunting etc So after looking at sewing machines I decided to pick the Hobbycraft 19s. It’s fairly basic but was just what I needed. I had to learn how to thread it, as my old machine was quite different. After a bit of reading and practising, I was fine. I managed to finish my project of making a scorpion outfit for my grandson and it coped quite well, as the material was quite thick. It is so much lighter than my old machine and takes up less room too. All in all, although it’s early days, I am very pleased with my choice and such good value too.
