Derwent mechanical pencils; ideal for realistic drawings.
I'm new to drawing so decided to buy a mechanical pencil as I'd read articles from other artists extolling the virtues of these. Hobbycraft had 2 sizes (0.5 and 0.7mm) of Derwent mechanical pencils on special offer (half-price) so I decided to get both.
I used the 0.5mm pencil yesterday for the first time and was impressed by the degree of control it gave me compared to ordinary graphite pencils. No blunt ends and no sharpening needed. Nice grip so comfortable to use. It's adaptable as it can take different grades of graphite though I only used HB this time. I'm very pleased with the results from my first attempt. And all at a great price!

Good
To replace the rubber, you have to get it out before it’s even half dead otherwise it’ll be stuck there. you also need to remove rubber to replace the graphite as well so be careful! Otherwise I LOVE this mechanical pencil! Feels professional and fun to use.

Looking for a propelling pencil
The young lady that helped me was so thoughtful she new exactly what a I wanted a mechanical pencil
I also wanted gold paper which you didnt have and she helped me look through the choices
I think there was too much Cricut in the store other items were not available as Cricut took up extra space where other items were, die cuts and paper

Not my favourite
The pencil is amazing loving the shade of the HB but the only problem is refilling it there is no instructions or anything on the box I first thought you stuck the pencil in the hole but when I finally found out the led wouldn’t come out from the top
Recommend for people who know how to use

Good mechanical Pencil at a great price
Derwent have had some lower quality tools at times but this is not one of them. For the price this is a great set including pencil, spare leads in a useful case and replacement rubbers.
The only thing it could really use is a small compartment in the leads case for the rubbers.

Amazing, however...
I love this pencil, it preformed amazingly, however i would prefer the pencil to have a different amount of leds, as people might prefer a softer pencil over a harder one and the other way round, it’s also on the pricey side, but aside that i love this pencil

A lot of refills and very good for detail
I used this pencil for a sketch before using gouache paint and usually when I do this with other pencils the graphite smudges and makes a mess of the colours however this one didn’t and makes my life so much easier. Very good for details and smooth sketches.

I love this pencil, very comfortable to hold for long periods of time. Lead is also good and doesn't break.
