Can it be used to gild page edges?
It can be done, but it is tricky. Allow the gilding paste to dry fully so that the pages don't get soggy or stick to each other. Let it dry with each page splayed out, until tacky, then apply the leaf.

What do you stick Hobbycraft gold leaf with and can you use on canvas
Gold leave can be used on canvas and you will to use a special adhesive called Size to stick this with.
