Hello! My name is Amy and I work at Hobbycraft Croydon. I’m an illustrator, animator and artist from Carshalton, London. I work both in traditional art forms such as charcoal, graphite & paints as well as, digitally on Adobe suite and Procreate. It’s fair to say my favourite section in our stores would be the art supplies, but I also have a passion for decorating, embroidering and especially cross-stitching.

Nostalgia

This is A2 oil painting on canvas that I painted a few years ago for my grandfather’s 80th birthday. It is a snapshot of my local park Beddington Park. I visited regularly as a child with both my Granddad and my Nan. It also was a beautiful place where me and friends hung out as teens. I also started painting this during the end of my A-levels, so my knowledge on artist, such as Turner and Monet had started to appear in a lot of my paintings, and I still tend to work with oil paints in a very expressionist style.

Pride Cross Stitches

Using left over Hobbycraft equipment, I created 2 miniature designs from scratch of the pride flags. One is of the pride flag and the other with the range of different flags including 3 versions of the pride flag. I felt like we didn’t have enough crafts for pride that wasn’t just rainbow.

To the Heavens

This piece was also created using Procreate on my iPad. This piece is a representation of my love for the gothic architecture specially seen in religious architecture. At the time I was drawing this, I was struggling with religious family members and my own religious beliefs and political beliefs coinciding. I believe that it represents the making of your own heaven and the organisations that are meant to help with your religious beliefs, can also cause its own downfall.
