The following projects require a Cricut machine to complete. Any Cricut machine will work; however, the Cricut Joy Machine has been used in the following projects.

How to make

You will also need:

* Cricut Design Space app installed on a laptop, PC, Tablet or mobile device

Acrylic Wall Hanging Step 1

In Cricut Design Space, begin a new project. Select the text option and add in 'Robyn's Party'.

Select your font in the editing panel, in this project I used 'Equinox Corn'.

Step 2

Select the text option again and write the desired name. For this project, I use 'This Way'.

Choose your desired text, I used 'DTC Cottage Style'. This particular font has a cursive style. You will see the letters are not automatically connected together. To connect them, ungroup the text in the 'Actions' menu. You will now see each letter is its own layer and can now be moved individually to join the letters together.

Once happy with the arrangement select all the letters in the word and use the 'Weld' tool to make it all one image/cut.

Step 3

To find the images used, select 'Image' in your menu. This is where you will find all the images in the Cricut Design Store. In the search bar search for popsicles or enter the specific codes: #M2612E6CD & #M17A62578.

We also used an arrow design - #M7EB762D.

Add all of the designs onto your canvas.

Step 4

To separate all the ice lollies in the Frozen Treats Design, select a square from the 'Shapes' area. Position the square covering one popsicle only and ensuring it does not overlap any of the others. Select both layers and use the 'slice' tool. You will now see that the popsicle is able to move around individually. Repeat until all popsicles in the design can move freely.

Step 5

Place the ice lollies, arrow and your text into a design you like.

To ensure all the designs will cut from one piece of vinyl, make sure they are the same colour by selecting the colour in the editing bar.

Once happy, select and all the elements followed by the 'Attach' tool in the 'Actions' menu to keep all items the same distance when cutting.

Step 6

Now you're ready to cut out the design!

This project can be cut with any of the machines however, I've used the Cricut Joy and Smart Vinyl meaning you do not need a mat to cut the vinyl out.

Top Tip: If you're using another machine you'll need to use a StandardGrip Cutting Mat.

Follow the on-screen instructions and cut out your vinyl.

Step 7

Prep your acrylic by first adding two holes to the top of the board so that cord can be threadded through later. For this you will need a drill. I recommend drilling as slowly as you can with light pressure to make two holes.

Top Tip: Placing masking tape where you plan to drill will help lowering the risk of cracking.

Step 8

Paint onto the back of your acrylic piece. I mixed a pink, blue and white acrylic paint together for the purple colour and then used a fan paint brush to create a paint brush swipe look.

Allow to dry.

Step 9

Once the vinyl design is cut, weed away the negative pieces with your weeding tool from the vinyl backer.

Step 10

Take the Transfer Tape and cut to size so all the design fits onto the tape.

Peel the backing from the Transfer Tape and place down onto your vinyl design.

Use the scraper tool in your Cricut Joy starter tool kit to transfer the vinyl from the backing onto the tape. You may also want to flip it over and use the scraper on the back of the backing to help transfer the design onto the tape.

Step 11

Slowly peel the backing away and you should see your design is now on the Transfer Tape.

If any part is still stuck on the backing, not to worry! Put the backing back down and use your scraper tool in this area until it has firmly stuck onto the tape.

Step 12

Now your design is on the Transfer Tape, place it onto the front of your acrylic board (the front is the side without paint on).

Use your scraper tool again to transfer the design from the tape onto the acrylic board.

Step 13

Lift the Transfer Tape up and you will see your vinyl design has smoothly stuck down to the board.

Step 14

Lastly, thread the cord into the holes so that your sign can hang on the wall.

There are lots of ways in which the acrylic signs can be personalised for a birthday party, why not create a menu board detailing the sweet treats available. Simply use the fonts within the Cricut Design Space app to create your menu.

Acrylic Place Setting

Why not create a personalised place setting for all the party attendees that they can then take away with them at the end of the day?!

Use elements, whether this be text or images, from other acrylic signs to create a lasting memento of the day that can be used time and again.
