How to make

Step - 1

Using your iPad (you could also use a laptop, desktop or iOS or Android device), log on to your Design Spaceâ„¢ account and make sure you are connected to your Cricut machine.

Once logged in and on the Cricut Design Space home screen, type "Paper Village" into the search bar at the top of the screen and select the "Wit & Delight - Paper Village" design.

Step - 2

You'll then be taken through to the canvas screen.

Select the grey house design and click the red cross in the top left-hand corner to remove it.

For the cloche designs we'll just be using just the kraft brown and white house designs.

Step - 3

Re-size the houses as desired. This can be done in one of two ways, either by dragging the arrow icon in the bottom right-hand corner of the selection box or by amending the dimensions in the "Edit" menu. Make sure that the padlock icon is locked when doing this to ensure that the image re-sizes proportionatly.

Top Tip -

When creating projects in Design Space you can work in centimetres (metric) or inches (imperial). To check which one you are using on a desktop or laptop, click on the three horizontal lines in the top left-hand corner, and click on settings, you'll then be able to choose between Metric and Imperial. If you're using any other device (such as an iPad, Android mobile phone etc) simply click on "Settings" in the toolbar at the bottom of the screen, to work in centimetres ensure the slider is active and showing as green, if you want to work in inches the slider should be completly grey.

Step - 4

Once happy with the layout and design, select the green "Make It" buttin from the bottom right-hand corner of the screen, and follow the on-screen instrucitons to cut out the design, inserting the scoring stylus when prompted.

Step - 5

Once each piece has cut, carefully remove it from the cutting mat using the Cricut spatula tool and assemble, folding along the score lines and using the glue pen on the tabs to secure everything in place.

Add into the cloche, over the LED and use a small amount of glue from a hot melt glue gun to secure in place.

To complete, add a sprinkling of faux snow and your cloche is ready to take pride of place in your home.

Top Tip -

1. Why not create other miniature paper elements to join your mini paper house, perhaps a fir tree or stag.

2. Use craft paint on the clouche base to tie in with your christmas colour palette of choice, you could also add a strip of patterend paper or cardstock.

Developing the project further -

Larger houses make great decorations grouped together on a matlepiece or shelf. Why not try experimenting with different finishes and weights of paper and cardstock to create a village scene!?
