Step 1
Download the free Halloween Sign file. Place the draftboard in your Glowforge and open the Glowforge homepage on your device. Click on 'Create a New Design’ on the left of the screen, then click on 'Upload a File’ and select the Halloween Sign file.

Step 2
If you want to stand the sign up, rather than hanging it, remove the holes at the top of the sign by selecting everything, ungrouping it, selecting the holes and deleting them.

Step 3
Line up the design on the part of the board you want it to cut on. If the board still has the label on it the software will detect the Glowforge proofgrade material and load the settings for cut. If it doesn’t, click on ‘Unknown Material’ and select medium draft board.

Step 4
Click on the layer that just has ‘STAY SPOOKY’ on it, select ‘Score’ at the top and then ‘Draft’. This will score the letters on the base for placement.

Step 5
Click PRINT and press the flashing button on your Glowforge. When the print is finished, remove the board from the machine and remove the mask from all pieces.

Step 6
Paint the pieces using the photo of the finished sign for colour reference. The ones being painted pink and orange will come out brighter if they have a layer of white as a base layer. Mix a mid grey using the black and white paint.

Step 7
When the paint is dry, make the spiderwebs in the Os. Cut a length of embroidery thread and split it into 3 strand pieces, thread a needle with it and knot the end. Use the photo above as a guide for how to thread the web. Put a little dab of glue on the knots to stop them from coming undone.

Step 8
Apply glue to the backs of the letters and stick them to the base, lining them up with the score lines. Glue the spider on top of the Os. If you’re hanging your sign, tie a length of embroidery thread in the holes to hang it from.
