Step 5

Now it's time to start the embroidery of your leaves. If you are unfamiliar with any of the stitches we have used in this project, visit our Get Started In Embroidery guide.

Embroider directly onto the felt, if you feel you need to place a hoop around it you can but be careful not to stretch the felt.

Follow the lines on the template as a guide for the embroidery. For this leaf do a running stitch design.

Step 6
Next, for this leaf use a stem stitch design.

Step 14
Once you’ve added the embroidery details to each leaf, carefully cut out each one.
Step 15

Place your leaves in a line to determine the order you want them to hang in.

Once happy you can take a 2.5m piece of 6 stranded embroidery thread, and use a number 3 size needle to thread through all of the leaves, tie a knot at each end to secure them.

Step 16
And there you have it, you have created a beautiful piece of autumn home décor!
