How to Crochet a Headband

Plain Headband
* Knitcraft Picklechops DK Yarn 50g
* 4mm Crochet Hook
* Scissors
* Yarn Needle

Beaded Headband
* White DK Yarn
* Beads
* 3mm and 4mm Crochet Hooks
* Scissors
* Yarn Needle

Pattern Notes
This pattern is written using UK terms.
Ch does not count as a stitch throughout.
You will need to adjust the size of the headband based on the size of your head. Measure the distance from just behind your ear, over your head to just behind the other ear. This is your desired length of the 'Main Headband'.

Plain Headband: Step 1

Main Headband
Using ‘Picklechops’ and 4mm hook, ch13. 
Row 1: 1htr into third ch from hook. (11htr)
Row 2: Ch2 and turn, in BLO, 1htr in each st across. (11htr)
Repeat until you have reached desired length. Do not fasten off, continue on to ‘Ends’.

Plain Headband: Step 2

Ends
Row 1: Ch1 and turn, dc2tog, 7dc, dc2tog (9dc)
Row 2: Ch1 and turn, dc2tog, 5dc, dc2tog (7dc)
Row 3: Ch1 and turn, dc2tog, 3dc, dc2tog (5dc)
Row 4: Ch1 and turn, dc2tog, 1dc, dc2tog (3dc)
Row 5: Ch1 and turn, dc3tog. (1dc)
Do not fasten off.
Ch approx 60-70dc or as long as you need, to make one of the ties.
1dc into 2nd ch from hook, 1dc in each ch across, until back at the main headband. Slst to join to headband.
Fasten off and weave in ends.

Reattach the yarn at the other end of the headband at the beginning of the foundation chain. Repeat ‘Ends’ steps to make a tie for the other end.

Beaded Headband: Step 1

Main Headband
Using ‘White’ and 4mm hook, ch13.
Row 1: 1htr into third ch from hook, 1htr in each ch across. (11htr).
Change to 3mm hook. 
Row 2: Ch2 and turn, 1htr into stitch at bottom of chain. *add bead to hook, skip 1 st, insert in next stitch, yo, draw through, yo, draw through all loops and bead, 1htr into next stitch* rep across. (5 beads, 6htr)
Change to 4mm hook. 
Row 3: Ch2 and turn, 1htr in each st across. (11htr)
Repeat rows 2 and 3 until you have reached desired length, ending with a row 3. Do not fasten off, continue on to ‘Ends’.

Beaded Headband: Step 2

Ends
Change to 4mm hook.
Row 1: Ch1 and turn, dc2tog, 7dc, dc2tog. (9dc)
Row 2: Ch1 and turn, dc2tog, 5dc, dc2tog. (7dc)
Row 3: Ch1 and turn, dc2tog, 3dc, dc2tog. (5dc)
Row 4: Ch1 and turn, dc2tog, 1dc, dc2tog. (3dc)
Row 5: Ch1 and turn, dc3tog. (1dc)
Do not fasten off.

Row 2: Ch1 and turn, dc2tog, 1dc, dc2tog (3dc)
Row 3: Ch1 and turn, dc3tog. (1dc)

Ch approx 40-50dc or as long as you need, to make one of the ties.
1dc into 2nd ch from hook, 1dc in each ch across, until back at the main headband. Slst to join to headband.
