Tension 

17 sts and 10 rows to 10cm using treble st on 4mm hook.

Granny Squares

Make 10 in each colour.

Using 4mm hook ch4 and join with a ss.

Round 1: 3ch (counts as st), 2tr into ring, 2ch, (3tr, 2ch) 3 times, ss to top of 3ch.

Round 2: 3ch, *(3tr, 2ch, 3tr) into next ch sp, rep from * twice more, 3tr, 2ch, 2tr, ss to top of 3ch.

Round 3: 3ch, 2tr into next sp, *(3tr, 2ch, 3tr) into corner sp, 3tr into next sp, rep from * twice more, (3tr, 2ch, 3tr) into last corner, ss to top of 3ch.

Round 4: 3ch, 3tr into next sp, *(3tr, 2ch, 3tr) into corner sp, 3tr into next 2 spaces, rep from * twice more, (3tr, 2ch, 3tr) into corner, 2tr in next sp, ss to top of 3ch.

Sizes Small, Medium only

Fasten off.

Sizes Large, XL, 2XL only

Round 5: 3ch, 3tr into next sp , *(3tr, 2ch, 3tr) into corner sp, (3tr into next sp) 3 times, rep from * twice more, (3tr, 2ch, 3tr) into corner sp, 3tr into next 2 spaces, 2tr, ss to top of 3ch.

Fasten off.

Sizes 3XL, 4XL, 5XL only

Round 5: 3ch, 3tr into next sp, *(3tr, 2ch, 3tr) into corner sp, (3tr into next sp) 3 times, rep from * twice more, (3tr, 2ch, 3tr) into corner sp, 3tr into next 2 spaces, 2tr, ss to top of 3ch.

Round 6: 3ch, (3tr into next sp) twice, *(3tr, 2ch, 3tr) into corner sp, (3tr into next sp) 4 times, rep from * twice more, (3tr, 2ch, 3tr) into corner sp, 3tr into next sp, 2tr, ss to top of 3ch.

Fasten off.

Making up

Starting with a yarn A square for the bottom corner, start to attach the squares in a diagonal line using the diagram as a guide. You will need to create 2 pieces made up of 6 x 5 squares.

Yoke

Back Yoke

Join yarn A to the top right-hand corner.

Row 1: 2ch (doesn’t count as st here and throughout), 1tr into each st or ch sp, turn. 84(84, 102, 102, 102, 120, 120, 120) sts

Change to yarn B.

Row 2: 2ch, 1tr into each st, turn.

Change to yarn C.

Row 3: 2ch, 1tr into each st, turn.

Change to yarn D.

Row 4: 2ch, 1tr into each st, turn.

Change to yarn E

Row 5: 2ch, 1tr into each st, turn.

Change to yarn F

Row 6:2ch, 1tr into each st, turn.

Continue working straight in yarn F for 1(2, 4, 5, 6, 2, 3, 4) rows.

Next row: 2ch, 24(22, 31, 30, 30, 39, 38, 38)tr turn.

Next row: 2ch, 1tr into each st.

Fasten off.

Turn work to start on other end and repeat the last 2 rows.

Fasten off.

Front Yoke

Work as for Back Yoke until 2 (3, 4, 5, 6, 1, 2, 3) rows have been worked.

Keeping colour pattern correct as for back work the following:

*Next row: 2ch, 31(29, 38, 37, 37, 46, 45, 45)tr, turn.

Next row: 2ch, tr2tog, 1tr into each st to end, turn.

Next row: 2ch, work to last 2 sts, tr2tog, turn.

Continue decreasing at neck edge until 24(22, 31, 30, 30, 39, 38, 38)sts remain.

Work straight until front measures same as back.

Fasten off.

Rejoin correct yarn colour to other side of body to create the other side of the neck shaping. Rep from * to complete neck shaping. Fasten off.

Widening Rows

Right Side (work for both pieces)

For this section work in the following stripe sequence:

Sizes Small, Medium, Large

1 row in yarn F

1 row in yarn E

Remaining rows in yarn D

Sizes XL, 2XL, 3XL, 4XL, 5XL

2 rows in yarn F

2 rows in yarn E

Remaining rows in yarn D

 

Sizes Medium, XL, 2XL, 5XL only

With RS facing, join yarn to the right-hand corner.

Row 1: 2ch (does not count as st), 1tr into each st or ch sp, turn.

Fasten off. 

Sizes 2XL only

Row 2: 2ch, 1tr into each st, turn.

Fasten off.

Place a marker 32cm down from the shoulder.

Join yarn to the marked stitch.

Next row: 2ch, 1tr into each st to hem edge, turn.

Work a further 5 rows.

Fasten off.

Sizes Small, Medium, Large, XL, 3XL, 4XL and 5XL only

Place a marker 26(28, 30, 31, 33, 33, 34)cm down from the shoulder.

Join correct colour to the marked st.

Next row: 2ch, 1tr into each st to hem edge, turn.

Repeat last row a further 2(3, 3, 4, 5, 7, 9) times.

Fasten off.

 

Left Side

Repeat as for Right Side using the following colour sequence:

Sizes Small, Medium, Large

1 row in yarn A

1 row in yarn B

Remaining rows in yarn C

Sizes XL, 2XL, 3XL, 4XL, 5XL

2 rows in yarn A

2 rows in yarn B

Remaining rows in yarn C

Making up

Making up

Sew shoulder and side seams together using mattress stitch.

Armhole trims (both alike) 

Using yarn A, join yarn to underarm seam.

Rnd 1: 2ch(doesn’t count as st), work 1 htr into each st until 1 st before the corner, work 1tr either side of corner, work 1htr into each stitch until the corner, work 1tr either side of corner, work 1 htr to end, ss to join. Make sure to have an even number of sts.

Change to yarn B

Rnd 2: 2ch, *1fphtr, 1bphtr, rep from * to end, ss to join.

Continue working row 2 changing colour as follows:

Rnd 3: Yarn C

Rnd 4: Yarn D

Rnd 5: Yarn E

Rnd 6: Yarn F

Fasten off.

 

Neck trim

Join yarn A to right shoulder seam.

Work 1htr into each st and 2 htr into each tr st. Make sure to have an even number of sts.

Rnd 1: 2ch, *1fphtr, 1bphtr, rep from * to end, ss to join.

Repeat row 1 for 1 more row.

Fasten off.

 

Hem

Join Yarn F to either side seam at the bottom of the garment.

Work 2htr into each tr st and 1htr into each st, ss to join. Make sure to have an even number of sts.

Rnd 1: 2ch, *1fphtr, 1bphtr, rep from * to end, ss to join.

Repeat the last row in the following colour sequence:

Rnd 2: Yarn F

Rnds 3-4: Yarn E

Rnds 5-6: Yarn D

Rnds 7-8: Yarn C

Rnds 9-10: Yarn B

Rnds 11-12: Yarn A

Fasten off.

 

Sew in all ends and lightly press.

You Will Need

4mm crochet hook

Scissors

Yarn Needle

Hobbycraft Every Day DK in: 

Navy

Black

Purple

White 

Pink

 

Abbreviations (UK terms)

Using Navy and 4mm hook, ch 15.

Row 1: 1htr in 3rd ch from hook, 1htr in each ch, turn.

Row 2: 2ch, 1htr in each st, turn. (13sts)

Rows 3-4: Rep row 2. Change to Black

Rows 5-6: Rep row 2. Change to Purple 

Rows 7-8: Rep row 2. Change to White

Rows 9-10: Rep row 2.Change to Pink 

Sew in all ends. Lightly steam if required.
