How to make

Step 1
Open the wire netting and bend into a ‘bow like’ shape (or any shape you wish to create with your display). Secure the shape using small pieces of wire twisted around the wire netting.

Step 2

Attach this to your mantelpiece or wall using Command hooks - depending on the size of your display you may need more or bigger hooks. Top Tip: Command hooks are perfect for projects of this nature, as they can easily be removed from the wall when the time comes to pack the display away, and not cause any damage.

Step 3
Start by wrapping your garland around the wire netting to cover as much of it as possible. This is your base layer which you will build on.

Step 4

Use the dried grasses to start to fill in the gaps; these can easily be cut to different lengths to create more depth. Simply slot the stems into the wire netting and keep going until you’ve created a shape you love, and all the wire has been covered.

Top tip - Spray your dried flowers with hairspray to prevent them from shedding.

Step 5

Add more detail with other faux flowers, building out from the centre, pink gypsophila has been used for this project - simply slotting them into place.

Top tip - Keep stepping back and taking a look at your creation, this way you can see any gaps that may need filling when you view it from different angles.

Step 6
Use a heart craft punch and some wire to create 3D hearts to slot in around the display. These can also be used to decorate the walls around the display.

Step 7
All that's left to do is add some pink honeycomb decorations and a DIY heart garland and your display is complete!
