This knitted hot water bottle cover has no tricky shaping to worry about, so you can simply practice your knit and purl rows to create a stocking stitch pattern. Embellish the cover with buttons and ribbon to make it really special.

Cover Step-1
Cover: Using 4mm needles, cast on 85 sts.
Step-2
Row 1 (RS): Knit.
Step-3
Row 2 (WS): Purl.
Step-4
These 2 rows form the stocking stitch pattern.
Step-5
Rep these 2 rows until work meas 11in (28cm) ending on a Row 2.
Step-6
Knit every row (garter st) for a further 3in (8cm).
Finishing Step-1

Darn in loose yarn ends.

Step-2
Fold cover in half lengthwise with RS facing.
Step-3
Join the long side seam using mattress stitch.
Step-4
Place the cover on a hard surface and flatten it, making sure the seam lies to one side. Sew the bottom, cast-on edge seam so you have a rectangular pocket.
Step-5
Turn RS out and pop your hot-water bottle inside. Tie the ribbon around the neck of the bottle.
Step-6
Position the buttons randomly around the front of your bottle. When you are happy with their position, sew on firmly with the sewing needle and cotton.
