Create a cute birdhouse gift box for any size of present this Spring with this adorable design from the Cricut Design Space. The birdhouse is quick and easy to create as the score lines are created by the Cricut Explore machine at the time of cutting; all you need to do is glue the pieces together! How to make

Step 1

Using a laptop/Mac/iPad/iPhone, log on to your Design Space™ account and make sure you are connected to your Explore™ / Maker™ machine. Open a new project. In images, search for and select the following:

'milk carton' (#M3EE51) – from Tags Bags Boxes & More 2

'scallop border' (#M41BD9) – from Ribbons & Rosettes

'bird' (#M3A36D) – from Baby Shower

'flower' (#M68894C & M27FBAE) – from Best of Cricut Home Décor and Serenade

Step 3

Duplicate the scallop border to create a total of six.

Step 4

To create a circular hole in one side of the birdhouse, insert a circle onto the design screen and resize it to fit on one side of the carton.
Position the circle where wanted and then 'attach' or 'slice' the circle to the carton image.

NOTE: Position the circle on the second panel from the left of the carton.

Step 5

Cut the images from the appropriate coloured cardstock, inserting the scoring stylus as instructed on screen and adjusting the materials setting accordingly.

Step 6

Remove the cut images from the cutting mat using the spatula and use the scraper tool to fold and crease the carton images.

Step 7

While the carton is flat, secure a piece of acetate over the circle aperture on the inside of the carton.

Step 8

Glue the side tab of the carton to the opposite side and fold the base tabs inwards. Glue the top tabs together.

Step 9

Overlap and layer the paper borders on the front and back 'roof' sections, using double-sided tape to secure them.

Step 10

To complete, assemble the layers of the bird and flowers together and attach them to the house.
