How to Make a Felt Pumpkin

As the nights draw in, you’re probably feeling some cosy crafting coming on. These 3D felt pumpkins are a simple way to get you back into the creative swing. Made using just felt, hot glue and foraged twigs, they certainly won't break the bank and will add a touch of autumn to your interior décor.

Why not get out for a crisp walk to find the perfect twigs and then head home for a relaxing afternoon of making? This project is perfect for getting mini makers involved and in the spirit of the season.

You will also need:

*A hot glue gun

*Scissors

*A pen

*Twigs

Step 1

Step 2

Print and cut out the template.

Step 3

Fold a piece of orange A4 felt in half lengthwise.

Step 4

Put the flat edge of the paper circle on the folded felt edge and draw around it.

You should be able to get three shapes out of each piece of felt.

Step 5

Cut out the felt shapes.

You will need 6 felt shapes to make 1 pumpkin.

Step 6

Start with 1 felt shape still folded and add some hot glue to one half.

Step 7

Stick another folded felt shape directly on top.

Step 8

Repeat this process until you have all 6 shapes glued together.

Step 9

Unfold the first shape and add some hot glue to the remaining half.

Step 10

Bring the top felt shape around to close the circle and create a 3D shape.

Step 11

Add a foraged twig into the centre of the pumpkin to create a stalk.

Step 12

Cut out some green felt leaves and hot glue them to the twig to finish.

Step 13

Your felt pumpkins are now complete and ready to display around your home!
