How to Make a Personalised New Home Christmas Decoration

Place the slate house decoration on top of a black paper. Use a pencil to draw around the decoration to create its outline.

Using a posca pen, go over the outline. If your posca pen is new, shake well before and press on the nib multiple times for the ink to flow well.

Choose a design from the template provided for your decoration.

Using the outline of the decoration, draft your chosen design and wording with a pencil. With this you can work out your spacing and style. Once you're happy with it, go over the pencil drawing with the POSCA pen so you can start to see the design more clearly.

When you're ready, use this mockup as a guide and draft the design again onto the slate decoration. Use a pencil to lightly draw your design.

Top Tip: Make sure you check that you're happy with the spacing and design before you go over it with a POSCA pen.

Carefully go over the design with a POSCA pen. If the ink starts to dry up, use the black paper to press down on with your POSCA pen to reinstate the flow of ink again.

Ink might splatter by accident but that's okay, simply add a few more dots to create a nice festive snowy effect!

If you can see some visible pencil marks, wait for the POSCA pen to dry, then lightly rub the pencil mark.

Once the POSCA pen has dried your hanging decoration is then ready to hand on your Christmas tree or wrap up and gift.
