How to make

Step-1
Measure your window and calculate your cut blind size, then cut out your fabric. If you need to join fabric widths, use French seams, or Mock French seams if you need to match any pattern repeats. Press a 2.5 centimetre double-turned hem down each side of the blind. Pin, baste (tack), and machine stitch in place.

Step-2
Press over two centimetres to the wrong side along the base edge, then press over a further four centimetres to form a double-turned hem. Pin, baste (tack), and machine stitch in place.

Step-3
Press over 2.5 centimetres to the wrong side along the top edge of the blind. Trim the hem allowance down to 1.5 centimetres and baste (tack) in place. Attach the fluffy side of the hook-and-loop tape to the wrong side of the blind at the top edge, enclosing the raw edge.

Step-4
To calculate and mark the spacing for the Roman blind tapes. Cut lengths of tape to fit the width of your blind. Place the tapes on the blind, positioning the top edge of each piece along the chalked lines. Pin, baste (tack), and machine stitch the tapes in place along the top edge only, starting and finishing two centimetre in from each end of the tape and reverse stitching to secure.

 Insert the wooden lath through the base hem channel and slip stitch the open ends closed. Insert the dowels through the casings in the tapes. To neaten the raw ends, fold over a double-turned hem at each end and slip hem to sec

Step-6
Lay the blind wrong side up on a flat surface. Sew a plastic ring to the loose edge of each Roman blind tape, placing them five centimetres in from the side edges of the blind. Sew a third ring to each tape at the center point. Knot a length of cord to each of the bottom rings and thread the cords vertically up through the rest of the rings.

Step-7
Using the hook-and-loop tape, attach your blind to the blind support. Working from the wrong side of the blind, thread the cords up through the screw eyes directly above, then pass them across to the operating end, making sure that all cords go through the fourth screw eye.

Step-8
Attach the cord pull to the loose ends of your cords and screw the cleat to the side of the window frame. To raise your blind, pull on the cord pull and secure the cords around the cleat in a figure of eight.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Great tutorial but………… I found this tutorial realativly easy to follow until it came to cording the blind. I found that the cording instructions and photos need to be much clearer and I am not a novice sewer. Hobbycraft please rectify this issue so I can complete my blind correctly.
