You will also need:

*A cardboard/shoe box

*10 wooden pegs

*A craft knife

*A ruler

*Paintbrushes

Step 1

Using a craft knife, remove the top of the box and cut equal-sized rectangular goals into each end. Ask an adult to do this step for you!

If needed, paint your box white inside and out.

Step 2

Cut the foam sheet to the size of the inside of your box.

Using a ruler and chalk pen, draw the markings you would find on a football pitch.

Step 3

Use paints to transform your pegs into players! Paint five red and the other five blue.

Step 4

Evenly mark six holes along each side of the box. The dowels and clothes peg players will go through these holes so make sure they are level and at the right height.

Use a craft knife to poke through these holes and insert your dowels. The dowels should be able to slide freely without resistance.

Tip: Ensure your clothes peg players can kick about freely without touching the bottom of the box, but not so high up that they’re floating above the ball!

Step 5

Peg the players onto the dowels in your chosen formation and get ready to kick off!

Step 6

Why not add some nets to your goals using packaging from oranges?

Roll a ball using superlight clay and you're ready to play!
