How to Make

Step-1

Leave the large box open. Stick the large box on top of the small box with glue.

Step-2

Cut the 'short' end flaps of the large box into triangles. Lay the other side flaps onto the triangles and glue together to create a base to lay the white card 'roof' on.

Step-3

Paint the boxes with two to three coats of white acrylic paint and leave to dry.

Next fold the sheet of white card in half, and place on top of the roof base. Trim the edges if necessary, then glue in place.

Step-4

To make the windows, cut some rectangular pieces of white foam and draw diagonal lines with a ruler and black pen. Stick to the sides of the large box. Draw a cut a rectangular door from brown foam, and glue in place to the smaller box.

Step-5

Cut a sheet of black foam into one centimetre wide strips and use them to create 'beams'. Cut some narrower ½ cm strips for the window and door frames. Glue all the pieces in place using the picture as a guide.

Step-6

Cut the brown and grey foam sheets into rectangular 'tiles' measuring 2 centimetre x 3 centimetre. Starting at the bottom of the white card roof, glue the tiles side by side, with each layer overlapping slightly. Cover the entire roof and allow to dry.

How big should the boxes be?

In this instance the larger box is about 8 inches wide and the smaller about 6 inches. You don't want to go a lot bigger than this as this will change how wide you need the beams and windows to be.
