How to Make

You will need:

1 Large Cardboard Box

Step-1
Begin by drawing around a dinner plate onto a cardboard box. Cut out four circles – one for the head and three for the body. Paint three circles with green paint and then one with red paint. Use child-friendly paints if your little one is painting.

Step-2
Mix up a lighter green paint by adding white to the green. Then put bubble wrap around a rolling pin, securing it with a little tape at the side. Once the body has dried, paint the lighter green paint onto the bubble wrap and roll it onto the body to create a textured effect.

Step-3
For the eyes, cut two large ovals from white card and glue in place onto the red circle. Glue the black buttons (or black circles of card) onto the white card near the bottom of the oval. Draw a cheeky little smile with a black marker pen.
Step-4
To make the antennae, twist together two large chenille stems, then fold in half and tape to the back of the head. Repeat for the other side.
Step-5
Make six little legs by chopping a large chenille stem in half, twisting and then folding to form an 'L' shape. Tape to the bottom of the caterpillar on the back, two per body circle.
Step-6
Next, join up the head and three body parts by using split pins. Overlap the circles slightly and puncture half way down with a pin. Poke through to the back and flatten the pins out. This will enable Mr. Caterpillar to wiggle around – and also enable him to be folded neatly away.
Step-7
Now get wiggling!
