Step 1
Take the red ribbon off the metal heart frame and tie the cream Return of the Mac cord around the metal frame at the join.

Step 2
Wrap the cream cord around the metal frame including the small thread.
Step 3
Keep wrapping until you have covered the metal frame.

Step 4
Tie off the cord, repeat the knot twice.
Step 5
Tie the ‘It’s Only Natural’ thread around the wrapped metal frame with a double knot. Bring the thread up and wrap around the frame (in between the wrapped cord) twice and then bring down and wrap around the frame twice.
Step 6
Repeat this going all the way across the heart keeping the tension of the thread as tight as you can get it without distorting the shape of the heart. Once you reach the other side of the heart tie the thread off with a double knot.

Step 7
Now the fun part, weaving! Take the green roving and split a section off. Weave this into the warped threads, going up and over, up and over. Remembering to do the opposite when you weave back.
Step 8
With the green wool, cut some strips around 10cm long and add 4 tassels. To create the tassels you will need approximately 8 strands, place them over the top of the 2 warp threads, wrap the left hand side under and back through the middle of the warps. Repeat on the right side, and gently pull down. You can trim your tassels at the end.
Step 9
With 10 strands of green wool, approx 1.5m, weave the wool through the warp threads, pulling at sections to create texture. Tie the wool onto a warp thread and wrap over and under the warp threads. This will create a weaving technique called soumak. Don't pull your threads too tight as you want to create as much texture as you can.
Step 10
Weave in some green ribbon. To add some texture, double up the ribbon so it's chunkier.

Step 11
Again, weave in some hessian ribbon strips, approximately 50cm in length.

Step 12
Add 6 tassels using the mustard ‘Cosy On Up’ wool, you will want the strands to be 10cm in length and use 4 strands at a time.

Step 13
With some green ribbon, double it up and weave in.

Step 14
Take 5 strands of the chunky mustard to create a soumak plait across as before. The lengths of the chunky wool should be 1.5m in length.

Step 15
Add some more chunky mustard tassels.

Step 16
Weave in some roving in two different natural colours. Split a section off so the roving isn't too chunky. Remember to pull at the roving to create little bumps in your weaving.

Step 17
Cut the cream macrame cord to 5cm strips and tie around the warp threads. Do this 12 times. Trim at the end.

Step 18
Take 3 strands of chunky cream and do a soumak plait across one way. Carry on weaving the cream wool and keep it loose to create texture.
Step 19
To add even more texture tie knots in the wool and weave into your warp threads.
Step 20
Carry on combining these techniques as you fill the heart.

Step 21
Once you are finished you can trim the tassels and any pieces poking out so it’s neater.

Step 22
Add some green ribbon at the top of the heart so you can hang your woven heart.
