How to make

Step 1

Use your favourite biscuit recipe to create the dough

Step 2

Use the biscuit cutters to create your shapes

Step 3

To create the moon shape use the round biscuit cutter. Cut one circle and cut the second circle 2-3cm to the right of the first circle, overlapping the two. Carefully remove the middle section to create two crescent moon shapes. Follow your recipe to bake the biscuits and set aside to cool.

Step 4

For the Kaaba biscuit: Roll the black ready-to-roll icing to around 2-3mm thick and cut the square shape using the same cutter you used when cutting the biscuits. Brush the top of the square biscuits with edible glue and apply.

Step 5

Mix the edible glitter with a few drops of lemon juice to create a paint consistency. Start by painting the main banner across the top then use the tip of the brush to create the design details below. Lastly, paint a rectangle to create the golden door.

Step 6

For the Hajj pilgrims: Roll the white ready-to-roll icing to around 2-3mm thick. Follow the steps in the photos to cut and create the Ihram clothing. Apply a thin coat of edible glue and apply the fondant across the gingerbread man.

Step 7

Use the writing icing in black and white to create the eyes, mouth and clothing drape lines.

Step 8

Cut out the moon and stars from the white ready-to-roll icing (use the same technique used in step 3 for the crescent moons). Apply the icing to the biscuits with a thin layer of edible glue and paint with the edible gold paint.
