Keep your little ones busy during the summer holidays with this quick and easy project guide. A perfect cardboard craft for kids, these jungle-themed craft rolls can be made from a few recycled materials in just a few hours!

Making these adorable cardboard roll characters is the perfect activity to enjoy at your summer garden party and they can be created by crafters of all ages!

You Will Need:
* Cardboard tubes
* Cereal box
* Acrylic Paint in Various Colours
* A4 Paper in Various Colours
* Tissue Paper in Various Colours
* Googly Eyes
* Pom Poms
* Circle and Heart Hole Punches
* Black, White and Blue Posca Pens or Marker Pens
* Glue
* Paintbrushes
* Scissors
* Pencil
* Ruler

How to make

Step 1

First paint the cardboard tubes in bright colours – red for the bug, blue for the parrot, dark green for the crocodile, light green for the tree, pink for the hippo and yellow for the lion - and leave to dry.

Step 2

Cut out some ‘leaf’ shapes in pastel and bright papers for the parrot’s wings and plume – snip small triangle shapes around the edges to give each a feather look. Then draw and cut out a yellow triangular beak and feet and stick them to the blue tube with glue.

Step 3

For the lion, cut out 2 circular pieces of yellow and orange tissue paper, and make small cuts all the way round to create a mane. Next, cut out a smaller circular paper face, and a heart shaped nose, using craft punches. Add some wiggle eyes to the face, and a smile with a pen. Then draw and cut out some yellow paws and a thin tail, add a pom pom to the end, and stick everything to the yellow tube.

Step 4

To make the bug’s wings, draw around a circular object on pink and green paper and cut out, then fold and cut in half. Then cut out some small thin strips of paper for the antennae and use craft punches to cut out small circles and hearts. Glue these to the red painted tube.

Step 5

Finish off the parrot and bug by adding some rainbow pom poms and wiggle eyes to the tubes with glue.

Step 6

Draw and cut out paper head, arms and feet for the crocodile, and mouth, arms, feet, and tail for the hippo. Stick them in place on the dark green and pink painted tubes, along with punched circles and hearts. Add some wiggle eyes, and use pens to draw teeth, nostrils, and toes.

Step 7

For the tree, cut out some larger leaf shaped pieces in plain green and glitter papers, make triangular cuts as before, and then glue them to the light green painted tube.

Step 8

Finally make the rings - draw round 2 circular objects large then the tubes on a flattened cereal box and cut out. Paint each in a bright colour and leave to touch dry, before applying a second coat. Repeat on the reverse, then allow to dry thoroughly before standing the jungle tubes upright and playing the game.
