Step 1
For this project you will need a pair of canvas shoes! These can either be new or an up-cycling project, either will work great!

Step 2

First, remove the laces of your shoes as this will stop any unwanted paint getting on them.

Taping off the soles of the shoes is optional, but it prevents any accidental paint marks occurring on the soles of the shoes. If you choose to do this, masking tape works best!

Step 3

Now it's time to plan the design! This makes it much easier to have an idea of the layout of the shoe and make sure everything is the right size and proportion when you paint them!

You can do this digitally or just on paper.

Step 4
Sketch the design onto the shoe! You can use a regular, coloured pencil for this.

Step 5
It’s time to start painting! Start by painting the background colours/solid colour elements of your design.

Step 8
We then used some of the Hobbycraft Dimensional fabric paints to add extra details and a bit of texture to the designs.

Step 9
Let them dry before removing the tape and adding the laces back in.
