Decoupage People

Start by ripping up some tissue paper in bright colours, this is going to represent the colourful powder paint that's thrown in the Holi street celebrations.

Cover your person-shaped craft stick in PVA glue and start sticking the pieces of tissue paper onto it, layering as you go until the person is completely covered front and back.

Then, cover the top of the paper in another layer of glue this will give a shiny finish. Add some googly eyes to your person and draw on a smile with a felt tip pen.

Your people are now ready to join the celebrations!

Bonfire: Step 1

Start by cutting the end off an old plastic drinks bottle (you may need an adults help for this part as it can be tricky).

Next, cut up some tissue paper squares in red, orange and yellow.

Place your bottle end upside down (open end against the table) and cover the outside in PVA glue. Start sticking on scrunched up bits of tissue paper to represent flames. Continue until the whole outside of the bottle end is covered. Leave this to dry.

Bonfire: Step 2

Now glue together some craft sticks to make the base of your fire, arrange these like you would for a camp fire.

Once this has dried, add an LED tealight or 2 on top of your craft sticks. Pop your tissue paper fire over the top, turn on your tealight and turn off the lights in the room to see the bonfire in all its glory!

'Happy Holi' Card: Step 1

Start by drawing a tree trunk with a crayon onto a blank card.

Next, prep your paint, do this my adding a tiny amount of water to it and mixing it up with a brush.

Drop some paint onto a branch of the tree using a paint brush. Taking a straw, gently blow the paint drop so that it spreads in various directions. If your paint isn’t runny enough try to add some more water, it many be a good idea to test this out first on a scrap of paper. Or experiment with tipping the card as you blow.

'Happy Holi' Card: Step 2

Repeat this for as many colours as you like, over lapping them and letting them run wild.

Write a sentiment such as 'Happy Holi' onto your card in felt tip pen.

Leave your card to dry, it is a good idea to do this on an old piece of paper as the paint may run further.
