How to make

Abbreviations

k = Knit

Kfb = knit into the front and then the back of the stitch

k2tog = knit 2 together

M1 = make one

p = Purl

psso = pass slip stitch over

st(s) = stitch(s)

Step-1

Cast on 5 sts Row 1: k all sts Row 2: p1, * pick up the loop between current and next st and place on the left hand needle, p this st and the next st (known M1 purl wise)* p to the last two sts, M1 purl wise, p1 (7sts)

Step-2

Row 3: k1, kfb, k to the last two sts, kfb, k1 (9sts) Row 4: As row 2 (11sts) Row 5: k Row 6: p

Step-3

Row 7: k Row 8: p Row 9: sl1, k2tog psso knit to last 4 sts k2 tog twice (7sts)

Step-4

Row 10: p Row 11: k Row 12: p Row 13: As row 9 (3sts)

Step-5

Row 14: cast off purl wise Repeat to make a further 3 more petals

Step-6

Making Up: Sew in all loose ends arrange the petals into a circle sew them together and sew on a black button, then fix onto the back of the poppy either a safety pin or a brooch pin.
