My son loves it
My son ( eight years old) loved putting together the spy notebook and learning about ways to pass on secret messages. He's carrying his notebook and equipment around which is always a good indication that he really likes it.

A lot of the kit was made of cardboard and could have been made of something more long lasting. However it was informative and fun.

Kids cypher messaging and encoding kit
bought it for grandson who is 7 but didn’t realise that he was at a stage in learning where the concepts are a bit too advanced for him. I will keep it until older and will chose an alternate robot learning kit in meantime..
Interestingly the paper and cylinder transposition and the alphabet wheel was something we did at university computer science as intro to cyphers and encryption - and would interest him to a certain level… but the Morse code and the shuttes which was a signal - left him cold and wondering why… these also are not cyphers and encryption really but a means of sending information… this was beyond his thinking and an electrical version with transmit and receive lights etc. over a wire is something I would have to think of creating for him…
My bad I had overestimated his understanding and interest levels at age 7
