A challenging pattern with good results.
As I usually find with macramé, this required a lot of concentration and care to get right, but the results were worth it. I changed the colours from the subdued sage and linen to terracotta and mustard, which produced a vibrant mat that really livens up part of the room. The pattern itself presented several challenges: (1) it doesn't mention under 'materials required' that you will also need a piece of dowel slightly wider than the finished mat (approx 36cm) -- this information is under 'equipment'; (2) the 'materials required' ask for four balls of the main colour in Return of the Mac cotton yarn, which you then cut into 44 x 7-metre strings. But as the balls are sold by weight, not length, they do not necessarily contain sufficient length of yarn for this, and I had to go back to the shop and buy an additional ball to make up the required number of strings (3) to make the pattern come out as on the cover picture, keep a careful eye on the pattern as you work down it. The pattern is very adaptable: in addition to changing the colours, I also added a few additional repeats in the centre of the pattern to make the mat a little longer.
