Bright, Unique and Worth It
I first saw the set in store and it instantly caught my eye. The colours alone and the fact that it’s a unique set I personally haven’t seen attempted before. I started to build at a leisurely rate and at a time of 3-4 hours it was enjoyable throughout. Using new techniques I haven’t done before and the blocks used for the water is simply special. The wings and torso are so seem less even the plants are great. If you’re looking for another addition or you’re a nature loving individual who wants a centre piece this set is brilliant.

I absolutely loved this build...the kingfisher is so stunning and the colors are just beautiful. If you love birds as much as I do you will love this set!

Build experience up and down like the bird itself
Overall this was a fun build, I found parts 'grew' very quickly; the base and most of the water effects were fast but I made the mistake of doing the 'splashes' at night which made the transparent bits tricky under artificial light. Body, wings, tail were no problem but the head (and fitting it) was a bit of a nightmare. Lego has a habit of securing a fairly large, solidly built part of a model to another in a way which requires you to hold it by or fix it with a hugely more fragile part, which inevitably results in bricks pinging off or coming apart and needing to be reconstructed. Such was the case with the head here which took me a few attempts to sit nicely and keep all its bricks together. Once completed it does look good but needs to be displayed at the right height for best effect.

Beautiful display set
As others have said, I came across moments when the build was falling apart as I was putting it together a little bit too easily - some of the connections really didn't seem well supported (main issue being the torso, and the tail feathers; the wings and head were totally fine). However I persevered and completed it, and once done it stands alone really strongly, and the wings are easy to pose individually.
As my first Lego build, I enjoyed building it a lot, and am very happy with how it looks. I hope Lego bring out more sets like this one, I already have my eye on the insect collection!
My set did sadly have an incorrect piece which meant I wasn't able to complete one of the wing feathers, but am hoping to get a replacement piece soon, and was able to finish the build for now, just minus one of the feathers. Still looking awesome!

Beautiful feathers, of Lego!
I just love this build, the angles, the feathers, a real demonstration of what is possible with Lego!
Apart from the base not being very stable, this was an enjoyable build with good stability and really interesting to watch the shape evolve as building
I would recommend when printing instructions with this dark a blue colour to use a lighter colour on the page as it’s hard to see the pieces under artificial lighting conditions, especially those of us with deteriorating eyesight
I also struggle with instructions with black pieces, but in more modern instructions they are often outlined . Maybe this is needed for darker colours too?
It’s a beautiful colour, so love the finished product, but struggled to build in the evening

Great piece
Great piece, for it's cost to Lego brick ratio is brilliant. The bird is beautiful and was fun to build it. However the base isn't that great, and bits fall off a lot.

My favourite set yet
I bought this to build with my 86 year old father as he absolutely loves kingfishers but has never built Lego, and this set did not disappoint. The build is really enjoyable and the water element is truly a masterpiece. Once finished, It is absolutely beautiful to look at , with quite fine detail and lots of lovely additional features like the splash and the reeds. I would absolutely recommend this set and the Lego Builder app is useful on this one, especially for bag two.
