Can see a whole new world now!
This magnifier is brilliant. The fact that it has a cord so that you can put it round your neck and it then literally is just above tne cross stitch picture is such a good idea PLUS a light to put on if the light in your house is not too good AND a little extra magnifier on the glass so if necessary - like me - you can see each stitch so clearly. It is a marvellous piece of kit and very economical for what it does. I would have paid more for this it’s so good. Even if you’re not 62 like me and have good eyesight I still think one can only benefit from owning a magnifier like this in your sewing bag.

Does the job
No instructions on how to insert the batteries!
Even when I’d figured this out I found it difficult to do as I have dexterity problems _ once achieved the product was fine - light weight & does the job although the light could be brighter

A great help
I have found this a help with close work. As I have got older my eyes have deteriorated especially since having laser treatment, this magnifier has helped with small print and also has allowed me to return to my cross stitch and sewing.

Purchasing craft items
A lightweight, robust magnifier which is a handy size. Doesn’t take up much space in my craft bag so it’s convenient for stitching, etc when I’m making long train journeys. Adjustable cord for wearing round the neck, leaving your hands free to work on project. This magnifier doesn’t flip about like some I have tried and can also be used free-standing. Requires three AAA batteries and the light is bright enough to make sorting thread colours very easy.

Fantastic Product
I have been doing a cross stitch pattern for my friends wedding and the aida is very fine. I am ashamed to say i started this pattern a few years ago and my eyesight has deteriorated and i was finding the stitching very difficult. This illuminated magnifier has been superb. Just what i needed

AVOID buying this unless you have good dexterity
I'm not sure whether my product rating is fair. I'd give 5 stars for the magnifier because as a magnifier, the product is EXCELLENT. The led lights are bright, you can wear the product around your neck or stand it up on a table. The lens is jointed.
I'd give 1 star because there are NO instructions on how to access the battery compartment, let alone get into the compartment.
We found a website stocking the same magnifier which had some photos of how to sort out the batteries.

All in all, if you can work out the battery fitting you'll be very happy with the magnifier. I just don't understand why the manufacturer doesn't include battery instructions.
Overall I'm averaging out the stars and giving the product 3 stars.

Very useful tool
I was given this as a gift by my husband as I have found that with ageing eyesight, doing cross stitch in dark colours was becoming a problem. This gadget has made all the difference and I use it suspended from my neck via the cord supplied. It may look odd but who cares - it gets the job done!

Can someone please explain how to insert the 3AAA batteries? I've tried but can't find how to get into the battery area. Thanks. Absolutely no help on the packaging
If you visit www.hemptique.com and view their LED ILLUMINATED MAGNIFIER (which is exactly the same as the Hobbycraft one) they have a series of photos showing how to get to the battery compartment and how to get in the battery compartment.
