Easy to use
I had this great idea to make wooden boxes for the bears I make, but they were bland and uninteresting. Thinking on how I could improve, I thought of burning designs into the corners, and writing the name on the top, so I went straight to Hobbycraft and found this.
I was surprised at the price, it was a bit expensive, however, I bought it and had a go...brilliant. Very easy to use and with a bit of practice, I'm sure I'll soon be creating some great designs.
I only give it 4 stars because I do think it's expensive for what it is, and the box is flimsy, so I've had to buy a proper container to keep it in.

Great product for beginners!
Having decided to make some DIY wood signs/ favours to reduce the cost of my wedding, I researched various wood burning tools and this came up as being one of the better ones within my budget range (didn't want to spend £80-100 for something I may give up on!) I am quite pleased with the various tips that come with the tool, although the addition of instructions on how each works and it's purpose would complete the product. I had read reviews saying the wire was quite stiff so was aware of this when I started and make a conscious effort to keep it over my writing hand or hold with the other when using. I also read complaints on other products of tips bending when too much pressure is applied whilst hot, but this seemed common sense to me and the YouTube demonstrations I watched before starting state you don't need to apply any real pressure, which is very true!
Overall, I recommend the product especially for beginners. Just be aware of certain things like the wire and pressure used and you'll love it as much as I do! Would also recommend buying some of the hobbycraft blank boards to practice technique on and for trying out the various tips.

Very good tool for the job
I used it for burning letters into wood for any sign, and found it excellent very satisfactory job done. Would recommend it for any like job.

This product is easy to use
great product, However, would like if the wire was movable and a little longer and as a beginner it was easy enough to use, i have found the tips will unscrew if they are not screwed in tightly enough and will also bend if you press to hard

Great little tool
A nice tool and good fun to use, the wire is stiff though so it is difficult to get used to drawing with it as it holds the tool back. Makes nice markings and would recommend it to anyone wanting to give pyrography a go!

Takes to long to burn wood and you have to keep going over lines to make them dark enough

Great all rounder
I got this after two failed attempts with another manufacturers burner which broke within days. This one is great. A bit more "industrial" thank the other one but does the job fantastically. My only issue is that it gets very hot (which you would expect) but I have to work in 30 minute blocks before letting it cool down so it's comfortable enough to use again.

Absolute pyrography beginner here. This was an excellent choice to get me started. Heats up quickly. Burns evenly. Great product and on sale at £15 absolute bargain!
