Product description

The Avro Lancaster was the most famous RAF heavy bomber of the 2nd World War andwent into service in 1942. More than 7,300 of these machines were built for RAF Bomber Command. One of the most important RAF targets was the destruction of the Ruhr dams that supplied important industrial installations with power.

In order to accurately attack such robust targets as dams or barrages a rotating bomb wasdeveloped which was better known as the bouncing bomb. For this attack a special new unit was set up, 617 Squadron under the command of Wing Commander Guy Gibson. Code named Operation Chastise this raid took place with 19 Lancaster bombers on the night of 16th to 17th May 1943. The first two dams, Möhne and Eder, were successfully destroyed, whereas the other two, Ennepe andSorpe withstood the attack.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Excelent price for a high quality Kit Revell kits have excelled themselves with this version of this famous aircraft. the detail is good and the kit goes together very well with no remedial work needed. the end product is certainly a good representation of the real thing. The only warning I would mention is that because this kit is so well detailed, the main undercarriage is quite fragile and needs to be assembled carefully as the joints are very small so do not have a lot of strength in them., I would not recommend it for a beginner as this area does require some patience and care especially with the moving parts such as the propellers wheels and turrets. Excellent model all round

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Revell Dambuster kit. This kit box nr 04295 was released in 2009 following the new tool Lancaster released in 2008 box nr 04300. When the Lancaster BI/BIII was released it one of the best kits around with panel line detail, engine detail, different props for each version. The Dambuster is nearly the same kit but has extra parts for the Dambuster but leaves the bombs and doors out which are not needed. For the detail accurate modeller the wheels are the incorrect shape and the main wing dihedral is slightly incorrect. However for many this will not be noticed or even cared for. The kit builds up into a nice looking model. I would suggest this as a gift or one for the stash but not a first time build kit. Rated 5 out of 5 by from This product has great features I've wanted a hobby for a while, I work full time and have a busy household so finding some me time is just what is needed. I've got as far as opening the box and having a look but it looks like it has great features, the only one thing holding me back is I am still yet to purchase the paint and glue as unfortunately it does not come with the set.
