Really versatile sketchbook
I really like this sketchbook. The paper is good quality & performs well with a wide variety of drawing materials: pencil; crayon; fineliner; dip pen & ink; graphite stick; paint marker; gel pen. It will take a light wash of water with watercolour pencils and light blending of pastel pencils. The spiral binding allows pages to lie flat and they tear out easily if required.

Used to be great, but they changed the paper
I'm now on my 8th sketchbook of this type. Paper has always been smooth, soft, and good for all kinds of art mediums. However, book 8 has different paper, hidden in the same cover and doesn't work well with any water based mediums, it creates little speckles on the page and there is a lot of bleed through to the underside.
Thanks Hobbycraft for giving us cheaper paper but not letting us know it's changed, and I'm sure the price has gone up.
