I bought this to use on a dark wood mirror frame that I wanted to give an antique silver finish. The instructions say to just apply with a soft cloth, with no direction what to do after. I had a look online and saw that for gilding wax you need to buff afterwards. So I let it dry a day and then buffed and loads of the product came off. Each day for a week I buffed and more has come off each time, most of the excess is off now but if I grab it, there is still silver on my fingers. I feel like still more will come off each time I touch it, and I don't feel like I even put that much on to start with. The wax is now mainly in the grain of the wood. If the sunlight is on it, it does give a sheen, but without it just looks like a grey colour with dark wood showing through. It definitely hasn't given the depth of antique silver that I was hoping for. I wish I had used something else such as silver paint. It's going to be very difficult to do that now though, as being wax, it would all have to be thoroughly removed for paint to adhere.
