FAQs About Balsa Wood Sheets

Common thicknesses range from 1mm to 6mm; choose based on strength, flexibility and project requirements.

Available in low, medium or high density balsa-lower density is lighter but less strong, higher density is sturdier.

Use sharp craft or modelling knives with straightedge, or fine saws. Score multiple passes for best cuts.

Use PVA, cyanoacrylate or wood glues. Seal with varnish, lacquer or gesso to protect soft wood.

Balsa is soft and may warp with humidity. Store flat between boards or weight down to reduce warping.

Widely used for model aircraft, architectural models, craft shapes, prototyping and decorative overlays.
