Poor instructions, not for beginners
My expertise in pottery comes solely from watching Pottery Throwdown so I thought I'd give this kit a go, it doesn't explicitly state it's for beginners but nor does it say you already need to know what you're doing in order to get something even vaguely reminiscent of a pot. In fact the first page of instructions talks about your first clay project. But the instructions are really too vague for a beginner and the accompanying pictures are tiny and don't show the necessary detail. "Use coil technique to make wall of pot" - OK, how? Roll clay into snakelike pieces. OK, how thick? It doesn't tell you so unless you already know how to do it, you're kind of abandoned to bumble your way through and hope your pot doesn't collapse because it's too heavy. (Bet you can't guess what's happened to mine.)
If you're a beginner save your money and go to a pottery class instead, and if you're not a beginner, just buy some clay and DIY, it's much cheaper.

Botched Pot!
Exact same experience as first reviewer. Bought this as an Xmas present for a friend and the instructions were lacking and very vague which meant the pot just fell apart and fell into itself. Definitely not worth the money without proper instructions. Should say you need prior knowledge of pottery on box or alternatively add to the instructions.

Great kit
Brilliant kit with eveything you need. Don't be put off by the negative reviews. Not knowing how to use the kit has absolutely no bearing on the quality of the product. Even with absolutely no pottery knowledge apart from putting something together in primary school (I'm 44 now!), making a pottery coil is so simple and self explanatory really.
I bought this kit as a date night idea for something a bit different. You get a good amount of clay for the price and the tools, glaze and paints are of a decent quality.
Would 10/10 recommend.
