Damaged and misleading
Ordered three of these for some artwork. Had originally gone for the deep box frame but needed something a little deeper (advertised as 2cm depth) and this was advertised as 3cm depth.
Turns out they are both the same depth and the 3cm actually refers to the thickness of the frame (external depth) and 2cm internal depth.
2 were damaged.
Opened the third and realised the measurements did not work.
Had to return them all.
2 stars as if not damaged they are nice frames.

A disaster
These frames are beautifully made BUT- and it is a big BUT -the measurements are deceptive: the dimensions are shown as 30x30, aperture 25x25, depth 3cm. What is NOT made clear is that this is the EXTERNAL DEPTH: the INTERNAL depth is only 1.5cm.

Shadow box frames
Love these frames, they are very sturdy and well made.
They are perfect for my sea glass artwork that I do.
I don’t use any other frame as these are the best I’ve found.

Good for small projects
These frames are perfect for photos and for paper craft projects/memorabilia. The only tricky part of this frame are the prongs that hold the backing piece in place can be very difficult to bend to open it and can cause some small cuts if you're not careful! Use a flathead screwdriver or something similar to open it to save your fingers some grief!

Good buy when on offer
These frames seem to have a much nicer and smoother finish than other box frames sold by Hobbycraft. I buy these frames only when they’re on offer at half price. I wish the inner 4sided riser was painted the same colour as
the frame, as I dont always use the mounting card. Also I have had to contact Customer Service recently because 2 of the metal tabs on the back of the frame snapped off. The matter was dealt with quickly and to my complete satisfaction. I will be buying more of these frames as soon as the half price offer comes again.

Reproduction Ammonite Fossil
I have bought a number of the white shadow box frames recently and I'm using them as mounts for large (reproduction) resin ammonite fossils that I have made. I'm giving the framed ammonites to members of my family and a couple of close friends as Christmas presents this year. I have had to remove the glass as the ammonites are quite thick. However, the mounted piece looks good and the simplicity of the frame will fit in to most home decor themes.
They are sturdy, well constructed and attractive frames. I wouldn't go anywhere else for Shadow box frames now. I highly recommend them.
