This Humbrol Modelcote Gloss Cote Varnish can be applied over paint to protect and enhance. With a gloss finish, the solvent-based varnish goes on clear and dries clear, overcoming the yellowing effect associated with traditional varnishes.

The varnish dries to a smooth, high-sheen gloss finish.

It can be used on common plastics used for plastic kits, including polystyrene and ABS, as well as MDF. Gloss cote is usually applied as the final coat to a fully painted model.

Can this varnish be used on wood slices on which has been placed a Christmas sticker

As it is a solvent based varnish it may cause issues with the sticker you're using. Also the amount is designed for plastic model kits may be too thin to give good coverage on wood as it may be absorbed into the surface.
