How to make

You will also need:

*A rolling pin

*A paint brush

*A knife

*Cupcake tray

Step 1

Start by rolling out the air dry clay until it's the thickness of a pound coin.

Cut a flower shape from the clay and remove any excess. Gently roll over the clay to make the flower slightly larger.

If you wish to stamp a greeting onto any part of the flower, add it now.

Step 2

Carefully remove the clay from your work surface and place into a cupcake tray and leave to dry for at least 24 hours.

You'll know when the clay has completely dried out as it will have turned a lighter shade of white.

Step 3

Whilst the flower is drying create the stamen section by rolling out a rectangle of clay roughly 10cm x 4cm. Make sure that all of the edges are nice and straight by using a ruler and knife

Step 4

Cut slits into the clay using the craft knife stopping a few millimetres before reaching the edge.

Step 5

Carefully roll up the piece of clay.

Step 6

Roll the piece between your forefinger and thumb to gently compact the clay together at the base, use a knife to cut any excess away to create a flat base.

Step 7

Gently tease the outside slits out so that the top sections arch out slightly.

Step 8

Leave to dry standing up on it's base.

Step 9

I also created some stamped letter tiles from clay. To create these start by rolling out the clay to a thickness of 0.5mm and then use the wooden alphabet stamps to imprint the letters. You can create tiles or the whole word.

Step 10

Once all of the clay pieces are dry use fine sandpaper to carefully smoothen the edges.

Paint each of the pieces, once dry cover with two coats of Mod Podge.

Once dry, secure the stamped letters centrally to the flower using a glue gun.
