Punch needle embroidery is a craft that is so easy to learn and great for beginners. Using an embroidery punch needle pen and yarn, making punch needle art can be so quick, and the possibilities for projects are endless.

Once you have inserted your needle and adjusted it to the loop height you would like you can thread your needle with your chosen wool. To thread your punch needle, take the wool threader and insert it into the punch needle from the tip. Push it completely through until it pokes out the other end.

Insert the wool into the threader loop.

Pull the threader back out of the needle and the wool will follow. Remove the wool from the threader.

Thread the threader through the eye of the needle, making sure you thread from the back of the tip through to the front. Thread the wool through the threader.

Pull the threader through and the wool will follow. Your punch needle is threaded and ready to go.

To master the punching technique, hold the needle as you would a pen. With the eye of the needle facing the direction you will punch.

Punch the needle all the way in to the fabric. Making sure the grip of the needle touches the fabric. This is important as it will create even loops on the opposite side of the fabric.

Lift the needle from the fabric, just enough to skim the needle across the fabric and punch again. Keep the needle as close as you can to the fabric as this will create neat stitches and even loops on the other side.

Try to keep the length of your stitches consistent, roughly 3mm apart.
