How to Sew a Dress Using Fabric Scraps

* 3 Contrasting Fabrics (1.5m of Eacj)
* Matching Thread
* Sewing Machine
* Cutting Mat
* Pins
* Dressmaking Scissors or Rotary Cutter
* Ruler

First cut out all of your pattern pieces for view ‘C’.

Then pin them to your chosen fabric and cut out using fabric scissors or a rotary cutter.

Construct the dress according to the pattern instructions.

To make the bow, mark 5cm x 60cm on your fabric twice and cut these out.

Fold both strips in half lengthwise and secure together using some pins. Using your sewing machine, stitch around all three sides.

Top Tip: Sew one end of each strip diagonally for a pointed finish.

To add your bow to the dress, pin both strips next to each other on the back of the neck, making sure you line them up with the top edge so the bow is neat when tied up. Once you’re happy with the placement, stitch through this with your sewing machine. You may want to do two rows of stitches to ensure it is secure.

Press your dress, and then it will be ready to wear!
