The Bismarck, the flagship of the Reich's warship fleet, was the largest German warship alongside Tirpitz. She was involved in the Rhine Exercise Operation on May 18th, 1941, but was soon discovered by British air reconnaissance aircraft.
A long chase followed, and the ship was again found by British ships. It was finally sunk by her crew on May 27th, 1941, less than 490km from the French coast.
