great beginners antfarm
This ant farm is easy to set up and my 4year old loves it. I myself am not a lover of bugs but i find myself watching the ants working away and its amazing! Gives you a great insight into how they live. Comes with a useful tube and observing compartment from which you first introduce the ants. They soon figure out how to move along the tube to find the main antfarm. Takes a few weeks of patience before ants start feeling like digging big tunnels but you see them moving sand around soon after they've found there way in. Black ants are faster i could only find yellow medow ants which is why mine might be slower at tunnel building.

This does need an adult to put together, and the sand / soil needs evening out as the plastic can bulge.
But once you’ve caught the ants, I recommend finding some then keep getting more daily, as trying to catch 30-40 ants may sound easy but it was more difficult than we expected.
But the ants do make good tracks, and it’s fun to see what they’ve been up to each day.
My 3 year old loves ants, but both children 3 and 6 love it as well as my husband.

Great fun with ants!
My daughter received one of these as a birthday gift and we liked it so much that we went in store to buy the same item for her best friend's birthday present. We all learnt so much about ants' lifecycle, their habits psychology living in their colonies. Recommended for all budding young biologists interested in insects and the likes!

Great Present
I bought this for a 7 year old who loves all types of creatures. She was so excited and really loves it. I am tempted to buy myself one too as I think it would be fascinating to watch the ants build their tunnel.

Amazing project
Fantastic idea, a little difficult to get the ants in but well worth it. My little girl checks it every day even mum and dad get excited to see what's been happening. Very educational and fun.

Good learning opportunities
Good learning opportunity! The booklet is very informative and taught as all some new things. It even had extra websites detailed at the back for more reading.
The unit itself is quite fiddley. It does specify to ensure the enclosure is put together tightly beofre adding ants (which we did) but i found the ants escaping through the air holes at the top on more than one occasion 🫣😩
We also struggled to get humidity levels correct so had to do this quite a few times to balance the room temps and how much water we added.
Because we had to redo the enclosure a few times before we got it correct we found keeping the substrate very difficult so lost some each time we emptied and dried the enclosure
My 5 year old enjoyed learning facts about ants and watching them build their new home was entertaining

Bought both wormary and ant house not sure thats the correct description but o what fun sourcing the worms and ants. For such inexpensive items it gave us a great time with the grandchildren, amazing what we got out of it, lots of fun but amazingly educational! Taught me alot more about our common garden insects. Go buy them for the kids ( or even yourself, dont necessarily need kids to enjoy!) Lots of great ideas in store to keep the kids busy and interested. I could have spent more time in store. Picked up lots of tips.
