Hi, I’m Kate. Expressing myself through creative mediums has been important to me since I qualified as a nursery nurse in 1984. I loved seeing the children create things from their own imaginations.

We all have personal skillsets and benefit from focusing on activities that bring us joy. When I suffered a mental breakdown and left my career, my solace was found in patchwork and quilting. As my mental health improved, quilting supported my return to ‘normality’. I worked in a quilt shop and completed my City & Guilds qualification in Patchwork & Quilting in 2010.

Quilt

Kim Mclean Flower Basket Medallion Quilt. This quilt was made over a five year period because life has a tendency to get in the way of quilting! Fabrics chosen by myself. Many of the applique pieces were cut on a Cricut Maker.

Wind Chime

Project made in lockdown. Gelli-printed card cut into discs on the Cricut Maker and layered, then strung to make a mobile. Photographed ‘artily’, because I can’t help myself!
