Rated 2 out of 5 by from Not ideal for adult use If you’re looking for a cheap and cheerful sewing machine that will do the trick whilst you’re practicing, this is not it. It’s very light weight, almost uncomfortably so, it doesn’t thread like a normal machine and has one or two factory settings. I bought this and it didn’t even sew, despite following the instructions and watching YouTube tutorials. My advice - spend a little bit more and get the midi!! Although it’s taken me a while to work it, once I figured it out it had been amazing! For an extra £17-£20 you get an amazing (and still cheap) machine. If you’re looking for something for your children, the mini may be the best bet

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Waste of money I bought this as an absolute beginner. The instructions didn't make much sense with one part have two different labels in separate pictures. I followed the instructions the best I could. I attempted sewing, the needle moves but the threads would not pick up. I took the machine to my dressmaker mum to look at. She tried but again the threads don't pick up. She also said the tension adjusting screw doesn't do anything. I took it back for a refund. I was really put off of seeing believing that I just didn't have the skill to do it. Having showed my mum at least I know it was the machine, not me!! I'm now going to buy a more expensive beginner machine. Don't waste your money on this!!!!!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Items had to be returned I hoped this item would be ideal for very light sewing jobs, such as hems on my little boys school trousers or seams on very light material for net curtains. The tension was impossible to set correctly, even though iot claimed it was set up ready to sew out of the box. Even the slow setting was fast making it impossible to work with. When sewing as a test, the top looked perfect but underneath was knotted up. My mother is very experienced in using various sewing machines, but even she could not make this machine work. It was returned for a full refund. I should have taken note of the previous reviews & never bought this machine.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Brilliant piece of kit and cheap too I hadn't used a sewing machine for over 30 years when I bought the "mini", but it was needed. Growing kids giving me holes to patch, zips to replace and torn clothes too often made my purchase essential. The "mini" comes pre-threaded which is great, a real time saver, and the instructions on how to use it are easy to follow. There is a mini kit with all the basics you need to get going straight away, including a spare needle, thimble, bobbins etc. It is small, so can be packed away and stored anywhere. Mine is on the bottom of a bookshelf. So far I have repaired trousers and a blazer and made a variety of cushion covers, quilt squares and duvet covers. A brilliant piece of kit and cheap too.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Nice little starter! I haven't sewn or used a sewing machine since school so I didn't want to buy an expensive set up in case it was something I tried once and relegated to the cupboard. This was an ideal size and price to give me a taste of sewing. Had a bit of trouble with initial set up as I didn't realize I needed to add a spool (it looked set up when I opened it). But once I worked it out I was away! I'd recommend persevering beyond the (not great) instructions... Maybe Hobbycraft could put a youtube video up of how to set it up? Overall, I'd recommend this product to beginners or those looking to keep things simple.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from mini sewing machine is fantastic When I saw this product I had my doubts about how good it would be but needed a temporary machine until I could replace my old one. After the first use I was completely amazed by how solid it felt and how well it stitched the fabric. Whilst the pedal does not affect the speed much the two speed settings were adequate to get the desired finish on my materials. I was able to stitch 3 sheets of fabric together to make my blinds and the stitching was strong enough to hold the fabrics weight. I would recommend this to anyone looking for a first sewing machine or one to have to hand for the occasional jobs needed around the house. I would definitely purchase this again.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fab little thing! I learnt on the old Singer sewing machines at school and it has been years since I've done any needlework so this was a fab machine to get started again on. I was warned that it was difficult to thread but I didn't have any problems. The only thing I did have problems with was the tension. I think I knocked the knob when I got it out of the box so messed it up. Oops. But a quick video tutorial on YouTube and I learnt what to do and how to use it. The only thing I would say is that it would be good to have suction pads or something to keep it secure on my table, it's so lightweight it kept moving as I sewed haha

Rated 1 out of 5 by from DO NOT BUY I never write reviews, but I had to to save anyone from buying this awful product! Not user friendly, Cheap, bad quality, the instructions made no sense, looked like they were translated badly from another language. When I returned the product, the man said that lots of people were returning the machine because it didn't work. I also noticed a whole shelf of them by the front door with the price lowered significantly, they are obviously trying to get rid of the stock as everyone is returning or know they are rubbish!
